Shakhtar Donetsk will put Spurs to the sword
Tottenham have been too bad to be true playing away recently and until they ‘up’ their game they have to be taken on. They have lost their last six consecutive away games and a mid-week Uefa Cup clash in the Ukraine is a prospect Harry Redknapp will be dreading. To say his players won’t be up for it is probably an understatement.
That said, Shakhtar’s form this season has been pretty shaky and Spurs will find themselves playing against a team that is down at 5th place in the Ukrainian league. They have drawn seven of their 17 league games to date and their difficulty in finishing games will not have been helped by the departure of their Brazilian striker Brandao, who has gone to Marseille.
However, Ukrainian sides remain formidable at home, especially in the current brutally cold conditions, so they start as 3/4 favourites and we fully expect them to win here. It is worth having a lumpy bet.
